In London fo the JISC annual confe
rence, some of the pineapple team took the opportunity to visit its namesake the Pineapple Dance Studio. No sign of Louie though!
Attended a JISC Lifelong Learning and Workforce Development Programme meeting last week. It was a good opportunity to talk to people from other projects and find out what they are doing and it turns out that there is a lot of common ground when it comes to tackling APEL issues. I made some interesting contacts that I hope to follow up.
Despite the snow and ice we are working hard on the pineapple model, documentation and organising and attending APEL related events. We are also in the process of writing the latest newsletter which will be published here by the end of January.
The Pineapple baseline report can now be downloaded from http://hdl.handle.net/10293/356 . It covers local policy (University of Plymouth), looks at drivers, models and stakeholders. We hope you will find it useful.
A JISC/CETIS day in Birmingham showed, amongst other things, the use of the LEAP2A specification for moving ePortfolio content between applications.
I am not sure how relevant it is going to be for Pineapple but it may be implemented at a later stage.
Some of the Pineapple team were at Alt-C last week. We took some Pineapple flyers to sunny Manchester to put on the JISC stand. There were some interesting sessions and it was a good networking opportunity.
Went to a CETIS run XCRI introductory meeting yesterday. Interesting to hear from those who are already working in this area. I can see that, if widely adopted, in the future XCRI could help to make APL less of a problem as it would be easy to find out about course content even where there was no exam.
The project has emailed its baseline study of APEL to the JISC. As soon as it has been given the OK it will appear on this site. We have looked at drivers, models and local practice. We will use the baseline to shape the first iteration of the pineapple tool.
Hurrah, all JISC project planning documentation (and more) has been sent off today.
